Time Off for Employees to Vaccinate
On March 12, 2021, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation (SB 2588A) requiring employers to give their employees up to four hours of paid leave (at the employee’s regular rate of pay) per COVID-19 vaccination injection. This leave may not be charged against any other leave the employee has earned or accrued and employers may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for getting vaccinated or taking leave to get the shot(s).
The law took effect immediately and expires December 31, 2022.
